Programs for Women

The Women's Resource Centers offers a wide range of programming on women's interests. In addition, students can participate in leadership opportunities by planning WRC programs such as the Women's Leadership Conference and Women's Awareness Month.

Several colleges and departments offer academic programs to support their women students. See below for more information.

WST/WRC Reception for New Women Faculty and Administrators - annual joint reception to welcome and introduce new faculty and administrators on campus. Graduate women are especially encouraged to attend and meet faculty.

Welcome for Incoming Women Students - program welcoming first-year female students to campus, providing tips for success and an opportunity to meet other women students.

Women's Awareness Month - Each year a student committee coordinates a month of events celebrating women's accomplishments and raising awareness of women's issues. Annual events include a keynote speaker and Take Back the Night. The celebration began as a week of programming in 1997 and became a month in 2000.

Women's Leadership Conference - Since 1998, a student committee of the WRC has organized a two-day conference to celebrate, recognize, and learn more about the strong leadership exhibited by women of the Georgia Tech community. The Fall 2004 conference featured Cathy O'Dowd who has climbed Mt. Everest - twice.

Women in the Wilderness - a program offered jointly by the Women's Resource Center and Outdoor Recreation at Georgia Tech (ORGT) to empower women in a non-competitive, supportive, outdoor environment.

Take Our Daughters to Work Day
The Women's Resource Center no longer offers an organized program for Take Our Daughters to Work Day. There are many opportunities for girls to be exposed to technical careers, such as the Society of Women Engineers Outreach activities and Introduce a Girl to Engineering each February. Women in Engineering and CEISMC also offer wonderful summer camps for middle-school girls.

Speaker Request
The Georgia Tech Women's Resource Center is available to provide the community with speakers on a variety of topics such as sexual violence, domestic violence, stalking, leadership, body image, eating disorders, time management and goal setting. These speakers are available to all campus groups, as well as off-campus groups. For more information and to schedule a speaker, please call (404) 385-0230, allowing four to six weeks before the needed meeting date.
