Women's Issues
Women's Student Union
The mission of Women's Student Union(WSU) is to challenge the traditional roles of men and women in our society, to uphold the right of privacy and defend women's rights to decisions about birth control, abortion and sexuality and to end social, economic and political discrimination at Georgia Tech and beyond. From theoretical topic discussions to practical, hands-on training (including a wide variety of issues of concern to women), WSU meetings reflect the diversity of the Women's Student Union membership. Founded in spring of 1994, the club has gained distinction and support on Georgia Tech's predominately male campus.
The WSU is currently inactive. If you would like to help restart this organization, contact WSU advisors Yvette Upton or Billiee Pendleton-Parker
The mission of the Pride Alliance is "to provide a source of information, promote a positive self-awareness and social outlet for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning people and their allies within the Georgia Tech Community." The Pride Alliance has general meetings for the membership, off-campus social activities and dinners, on-campus get-togethers and planning sessions, volunteer opportunities, political activism and leadership positions, and parties. Pride Alliance members are welcome to participate in whatever level of activity that they wish; and everything is as confidential or open as wanted. EVERYONE is welcome to participate in these activities - whether gay or straight. The Pride Alliance hosts business meetings, social dinners, and contributes to awareness events such as the "Coming Out Week" in October. We are a group of college students who want to make a change in Atlanta. We hope to shed light on the issue of Human trafficking and help bring about an end to this trade in our streets.
