Yvette Upton, Assistant Dean of Students/Director of The Women's Resource Center

Yvette joined the Georgia Tech community in January 2000 as the first professional staff member of the newly established center. The Women's Resource Center, created in 1998 through the efforts of women students, faculty and staff, offers programming on women's issues, crisis intervention to women who have experienced sexual and/or domestic violence and policy recommendations to improve the environment for women at Tech.
In her role with the Women's Center, Yvette has worked with many academic and student support offices on campus, facilitating collaborations on services and programs and providing trainings and consulting on gender issues. In her role as assistant dean, Yvette serves as a member of the management team of the Office of the Dean of Students and is a member of the after-hours on-call crisis team for student emergencies.
Yvette has a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's degree in women's studies, both from Georgia State University. Her master's thesis focused on the experiences of first-year and senior women students at Georgia Tech. Yvette has served in leadership roles in her field through the National Women's Studies Association (NWSA). She also serves on the Advisory Board of the Grady Rape Crisis Center and is a member of the Destiny Fund Class of 2008 through the Atlanta Women's Foundation. She recently received the Ally Award from the ACPA Standing Committee on Women. In her free time, Yvette enjoys participating in women's activites in the community, reading and watching science fiction, and walking her two dogs with her husband, Eric, in their East Point neighborhood. Her goal is to live a meaningful life.

Colleen (Petterson) Riggle, Program Coordinator

Colleen (Petterson) Riggle recently joined the Women’s Resource Center at Georgia Tech the summer of 2006 in the newly appointed Program Coordinator role.
In this role, Colleen assists in creating programs for women on campus, as well as working on the sexual violence initiatives. She is a victim advocate and trains other members of the GT Community how to best support those who have been victimized.
She has a bachelor degree in exercise and health science from Alma College and master’s degree in college student affairs leadership from Grand Valley State University. Her master’s thesis focused on body image among Greeks (males and females) at Grand Valley State University.
Colleen founded the Women’s Resource Center at The University of Tampa and volunteered at the local Crisis Center with the Nurse Examiner Program (NEP) for three years before moving to Atlanta.
In 2005, she received the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) Outstanding New Professional in Residence Life Award. In 2008, she received the Division of Student Affairs Award of Excellence and the Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC) Apple Award for her dedication to the Safe Sister Program.
She is a new wife to Scott and step mom to Allison (16) and Brandon (14). In her free time, she likes to train for endurance races, sew, be crafty and bake! She has a Miniature Schnauzer, Evie who keeps her busy as well!
Kelli Hunter

Kelli is a third year Biology major at Tech. She feels working at the WRC will give her an edge in future career endeavors. She is a member of the NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers), AASU (African American Student Union) and Co-chair of the 2010 Women's Awareness Month Committee (WAM). After graduation, she hopes to attend med school. In her free time, she enjoys shopping, reading and playing tennis.

Amy is a Chemical and Biomolecular Engineer. She believes working at the Women's Resource Center will allow her to connect with other females while spreading the Center's mission for women empowerment. She is a sister in Alpha Omega Epsilon, a women in engineering sorority. Amy thoroughly enjoys participating in her school community through her many activities such as AICHE, SWE, Tech Beautification Day, and Team Buzz. After graduation, she hopes to continue working in her profession for several years before starting her own family and pursuing her interest in literature, children advocacy, and teaching. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and boyfriend, goofing around with friends, reading, walking, designing, and thinking of more crazy dreams to undertake.
Hyo Jung (Lauren) Kim

Lauren is a Chemical and Biomolecular Engineer. She feels working at the Women’s Resource Center will allow her to be more involved in Campus life as well as connect with other wonderful females at Georgia Tech. She is a sister in Alpha Omega Epsilon, engineering sorority. She is a member of AICHE, SWE, and mentor for the GT1000 and M&M programs. She also has been participated in Mock Trial Team and the Emerging Leaders in the previous years. After graduation, she hopes to attend medical school. In her free time, she enjoys her time with family, shopping, reading, and playing the piano and flute.
Lan Mai Nguyen

Lan is a Senior studying Industrial and Systems Engineering. She hopes that by working at the Women’s Resource Center, she will be able to help the community and herself become more aware of women’s issues. She also believes that through the Center, she will meet many other interesting women on campus. She is the president of Georgia Tech Women’s Rugby Football Club and a member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, playing pick-up games of virtually any sport, and mini-excursions in the city. After graduation, she hopes to travel before pursuing her career.
